Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen, liebe Freunde in den alpinen Schutzgebieten,
das erste Jahr unseres Vereines „ALPARC“ neigt sich dem Ende zu. Zum 01. Januar 2014 wird die Überführung sowohl unserer Task Force Schutzgebiete Team als auch aller materiellen und immateriellen Werte aus dem Ständigen Sekretariat der Alpenkonvention zu unserem Verein ALARC abgeschlossen sein.
Ein langer Prozess geht damit zu Ende und unsere neue, am 18. Januar 2013 gegründete Struktur ist nun in der Lage, unsere langjährige Arbeit in, mit und für die Schutzgebiete der Alpen eigenständig fortzusetzen.
Mir gebührt Dank zu sagen an alle Kolleginnen und Kollegen in unserem Netzwerk und Verein, unserem Vorstand und Präsidium und an alle Vertreterinnen und Vertreter von Einrichtungen und Institutionen, die an diesem Prozess konstruktiv mitgearbeitet haben.
Ich freue mich auf eine starke und intensive Zusammenarbeit mit unseren Mitgliedern, damit die alpinen Schutzgebiete weiterhin einen prominenten Stellenwert innerhalb der Alpenkonvention haben werden.
Ich möchte aber hier und jetzt auch nochmals die Initiative ergreifen und alle Schutzgebiete der Alpen bitten, die noch nicht Mitglied bei ALPARC sind, dem Verein beizutreten, damit unser Gewicht in der gemeinsamen Verantwortung für die Biodiversität und die nachhaltige Entwicklung dieses einmaligen Gebietes der Alpen noch weiter gestärkt wird.
Allen Mitgliedern von ALPARC, aber auch allen Kolleginnen und Kollegen der alpinen Schutzgebiete, wünsche ich ruhige, besinnliche und entspannte Weihnachtstage im Kreise unserer Familien und für das kommende Jahr 2014 wünsche ich uns allen viel Gesundheit aber auch Mut und Kraft, um gemäß unserem Motto „Gemeinsam für die Alpen“ die anfallenden Aufgaben zu bewältigen.

This is a long and exacting process which is also drawing to a close. Our new structure, set up on January 18, 2013 is now independent. This will allow us to continue with the work we have been doing for many years now with and for the alpine protected areas.
I would like to thank all my colleagues from the network and the association, the Board of Directors and our Presidency, as well as the representatives of Bodies and Institutions that have been giving their proactive contribution to this process.
I commend our members for the strong and close cooperation which I am sure they will offer so that the alpine protected areas will keep on playing a leading role within the framework of the Alpine Convention.
I would like to seize this opportunity to invite once again the alpine protected areas that are not yet members of ALPARC to join our association so as to strengthen our joint efforts and commitment to sustainable development and the preservation of biodiversity in this wonderful alpine territory.
I wish all the members of ALPARC and all the colleagues from the alpine protected areas Happy Holidays. May you spend a peaceful and joyful time with your loved ones. I hope the year 2014 brings us all good health, but above all strength and courage to successfully meet new challenges in the spirit of our motto “Together for the Alps”.
